Project Angel Heart began preparing and delivering meals in 1991. We served twelve clients that first week. Since then, the number of people we serve has steadily increased and we now serve approximately 800 home-delivery clients each week. Our clients are men, women, and children, young and old, married and single, parents and grandparents, gay and straight, and racially and ethnically diverse.
The facts:
- Almost 13 percent of our clients have dependent children
- More and more we see a link between poverty and clients living with a life-threatening illness
- Approximately 67 percent of the people we serve live on less than $13,000 a year
- In 2009, we delivered 410,223 meals to 1,842 clients.
